Today we choose, to speak on the Power of Words
This is a subject that man is just coming into understanding about, even
though it is written plainly how we hold power in our mouth
So let us see what this power is, what is can do, and how we should guard
our lips.
Rev's portion of last week's message really led us right into what we are
doing today.
She had mentioned speaking the Word into our lives.
And, so, we begin picking up on that trend of thought.
It is written that the power of LIFE and DEATH is in the tongue. So, it
appears that what we confess (speak out over ourselves and/or others)
carries much weight.
We hear a lot about negative confession and the fruits of such. Some even
say that the more we say a given thing, the more apt it is to come to pass.
Think, for example, how we hear that if we tell someone they are clumsy all
the time; or, if we call them lazy all the time, we will begin to see those
things more evident in the operation of their daily lives.
We certainly need to guard our tongues and practice using them to speak LIFE
into the lives of others and into our own.
Let's look at some verses in the Scriptures that deal with words.
I am using the New Century Version of the Word.
Proverbs 12:25 says ... Worry is a heavy load, but a kind word cheers you
up.
Here we see that KIND WORDS are 'therapeutic' in a way. They can actually
affect our disposition.
Proverbs 25:11 says ... The right word spoken at the right time is as
beautiful as golden apples in a silver bowl.
This paints for us a rather lovely picture, doesn't it?
I was thinking of how the Lord used a fruit in a functioning of the physical
body.
By the same token, the FRUIT OF OUR LIPS can be most beneficial to the
proper functioning of our spiritual AND physical bodies, as we begin to
manifest the healthy results of having partaken of the good 'spiritual
fruit' being spoken to and upon it.
Matthew 12:36-36 says ...
And I tell you that on the judgment day people will be responsible for every
careless thing they have said. The words you have said will be used to judge
you. Some of your words will prove you right, but some of your words will
prove you guilty.
Here we see that there is an accountability factor involved concerning those
things we say throughout life.
The unkind things, the injurious things, the negative things, the idle words
.... these types of words will be judged in the end.
We will finally see that there was, indeed, 'much to be SAID about the
things we SAID'.
We can be so grateful that while we will be judged for things of this sort
(as we must give an account); the penalty for these things has been paid in
full by Christ Jesus.
Hallelujah!
Let's look at a couple of verses concerning the tongue.
Proverbs 6:16-17 says ...
There are six things the Lord hates. There are seven things He cannot stand.
The scripture goes on to tell us that one of these things is a lying tongue.
I was reminded here in this scripture how a lying tongue can bring about a
form of death.
We can bring 'death' to a relationship.
We can bring 'death' to a person's hopes and dreams.
We can bring 'death' to our own well-being if we speak LIES and choose to
believe them.
James 3:2-12 says ...
We all make many mistakes. If people never said anything wrong, they would
be perfect and able to control their entire selves, too. When we put bits
into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can control their whole
bodies.
Also a ship is very big, and it is pushed by strong winds.|
But a very small rudder controls that big ship, making it go wherever the
pilot wants.
It is the same with the tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it brags
about great things.
A big forest can be started with only a little flame. And the tongue is like
a fire. It is a whole world of evil among the parts of our bodies.
A big forest fire can be started etc
The tongue spreads its evil through the whole body.
The tongue is set on fire by hell, and it starts a fire that influences all
of life. People can tame every kind of wild animal, bird, reptile, and fish,
and they have tamed them, but no one can tame the tongue.
It is wild and evil and full of deadly poison. We use our tongues to praise
our Lord and Father, but then we curse people, whom God made like Himself.
Praises and curses come from the same mouth!
The Word continues to say ... My brothers and sisters, this should not
happen. Do good and bad water flow from the same spring? My brothers and
sisters, can a fig tree make olives, or can a grapevine make figs?
No! And a well full of salty water cannot give good water.
These verses speak quite clearly, don't they?
We don't even have to expound on them at all.
Let's conclude with some verses on speaking honestly.
Psalm 15:1-2 These verses were under a heading which read, WHAT THE LORD
DEMANDS.
Lord, who may enter Your Holy Tent? Who may live on Your holy mountain? Only
those who are innocent and who do what is right. Such people speak the truth
from their hearts and do not tell lies about others.
As I look at the part that says that "Such people speak the truth
...", I
think of us speaking to one another in Psalms etc.
When we speak the Word to one another ...
We are speaking TRUTH to one another.
And the speaking of this TRUTH is what helps us gain access to the 'Holy
Place', and that Holy Mountain.
Hallelujah!
Speaking TRUTH is part of what our God demands.
Lastly ...
Let's look at Proverbs 16:13 ... Kings like honest people; they value
someone who speaks the truth.
Even a king takes note of the truth as he sits over the people.
We can see, then, that appropriate words can help us 'gain entry, into
special places and that even kings 'value' someone who speaks the truth.
The 'weightiness' of words breathed on 'thin air' is unimaginable.
May we always do our personal best to carefully weigh out what we intend to
say before we say it.
And, may the Lord redeem any and all things spoken outside of this practice.

If any of you have a concordance, I encourage you to look up the key words such
as (Word, tongue, you will glean much as you read each scripture.
As we ponder such a powerful truth lets look to Genesis
IN the Beginning God Created He SAID Let there BE. and there Was.
You can fill in the blanks .. but the important thing is to understand
that God created all living things with words.
The spoken word is a covenant that will last for eternity
for it is written, heaven and earth will pass away, but every word
out of the mouth of the Father is eternal.
We are created in His, (the Father) likeness.
therefore we hold power to give Life and death in our mouth
this scripture was given in GEs presentation: (in the tongue is life and death.)
After years of wondering why we did not see more mercies in our time, It
became clear that, it is because there is so much spoken that brings death.
Say we believe, but. We quote scripture, but. We point
fingers at the wrongs and rights.. bu, we miss this scripture most readily:
kjv Matthew 12:36
[]KJV[] Mathew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall
speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
why? because either you speak life or death
kjv Matthew 12:34
[]KJV[] Mathew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak
good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
What you speak is truly what you believe
Want to know a person, hear their words. Do they speak life or
do they speak death, there is no gray areas here.
Thinking of the power of words, we get a clear picture of words by understanding
the law of seed. For they bring forth Life, a fruit after its own
kind. If you sow apples you get apples. If you sow weeds you get weeds.
That is law. And it is true in the natural as well as the spiritual.
God created, He said, Let there be.
If we truly are honest with ourselves, we will see that where we live today
is out of the seed we sewed years ago.
Example self-confidence
A wife belittled about weight or cloths or looks, will cower within, and
grow depressed and hold no self esteem.
Words Kill or Words give Life.
The bottom line is this, you don't have to believe it, to see it all around
you. Truth is truth all by itself, it needs no belief to be so,
for words are seeds sown into your soil and you will bring forth fruit of a kind
after its own kind the Genesis says.
What seed do you sow into your soil?
What seed do you allow others to sow into your soil?
what sort of movies?
or music?
or people do you hang around? The word says in Song of Solomon, beware of the
foxed the little foxes who come to spoil the vine. These foxes are what we call
golfers or prairie dogs. they burrow underground and eat of the roots of plants,
which causes the plants to die. They also run through the fields and get seeds
of weeds and crops on their fur and transport them everywhere. You may
think hanging around unsaved or weak Christians is harmless? Best look the the
suttle seeds they are dropping into your garden. Not to say we are to hide from
ministering or being examples to the lost and hurt, but always know and pray
about loose seeds. We are a created people, by God to be Like him. We
hold power in our words because words are our seeds.
I could give you countless examples of bad seeds I have sown in the past
but would rather speak of the new seed I m sowing into my home
into my husband, into my children, into my self, for the word says.
Speak the things that are. as though they are not.
and the things that are not, as though they are. In other words. Words
will change you life.
words will change your job, you boss, your family.
I am speaking into my husband every time I have a chance to touch him. I
think
inside, "I speak into you life, truth, and Jesus.
I speak hunger for truth into your being, In Jesus Name.
When we pray for one another, do we pray LIFE or death.
If you pray for JESUS to do this and that.. it may not come to pass simply because
It was either already finished, or he Gave you Power over the enemy and by covenant
we have the command to subdue the world.
Never ever think what you say has no bearing on life.
Our words are accounted for!
So, how do we change the Old way of speaking?.
Praise is a key, for Praise will put you inline with the correct words,
and will show you
your true self. As we praise the praise shows the things we need to lay down.
We can Learn to speak good things. Remembering that every word is a seed
and it is the enemies trick to cause us to sow seeds of death and despair.
He does not have to taunt us, we do enough, all by ourselves.
we speak death over our own lives constantly.
Let us now begin to call back words of death and destruction.
And speak Life into our beings and our loved ones.
I had to repent of this very thing, and just a few months ago began to speak
life into my Husband..
I cannot express how much he is changing before my eyes.
For he is coming alive, laughing, joking, glad to come home,
glad to do things with us. it is changing our Life.
There is LIFE IN YOUR TONGUE
LIFE LIFE in your tongue. use it.
Speak to your self .. with hymns and songs and speak to yourselves life.
the word, the truth of the matter.. not the facts of the matter
Facts are the worlds reality and circumstances
TRUTH IS GOD
TRUTH is POWER
TRUTH over rides the Facts.
In ending, yet not the end, but your beginning.
The Word says: Touch NOT Gods Anointed.
and Do his Prophets no harm.
What we don't understand is we are HIS anointed and his prophet.
And what we speak about ourselves will bring judgment or justice.
Stands today, before you: is Life and Death, choose ye Life it is in your
Tongue.
Amen
