FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Faithfulness
Steadfast Trust in God

Faithfulness is the quality descriptive of God's ongoing relationship to the
world and a believer's desired relationship to God and to others.
The Old and New Testements praise God for His faithfulness and challenge God's
people to develope faithfulness in their lives. Steadfast loyalty and unwavering
trust are considered essential virtues for personal and spiritual growth.

Faithfulness" <Gk, pistis> is a manifestation of the fruit of the spirit that
pertains to loyalty and trustworthyness. Scripture teaches that God is faithful
( Lamitations 3:22-23 )
Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because
his compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Jesus was praised by the Father for His faithfulness even unto death on the cross
( Philippians 2:7-10 )
Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form
of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and
became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a
name which is above every name
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in
heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth

Many of those who followed the Lord were called faithful.
Moses was faithful in the face of Oppression ( Hebrews 11:23-25 )
Hebrews 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his
parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of
the king's commandment.
Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called
the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,
than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season
and Ruth was faithful as she experienced great loss ( Ruth 1:16 ).
Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following
after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will
lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God
The early church was faithful when facing perscution ( Acts 8:4 )
Acts 8:4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
Paul was faithful in his ministry( 2 Timothy 4:6-8 )
2 Timothy 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is
at hand.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have
kept the faith
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which
the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only,
but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Believers today are called to faithfulness to God, to self, and to others. A
believer is challenged to maintain steadfast trust in God, even amidst trials
and suffering. Faithfulness to self results from faith in God and precedes
faithfulness to others. Dependability and commitment to others is an essential
expression of faithfulness in love and service.
The Lord said "be faithful unto death, and I wil give you the crown of life"
( Revelation 2:10 )
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold,
the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye
shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give
thee a crown of life.
The unfailing faith of a follower of Christ will be rewarded for all eternity.
( Lamitations 3:22 ) Lamentations 3:22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we
are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

Walk in Light

walk as children of light

righteousness and truth;)

Ephessians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather reprove them.
Ephessians 5:12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done
of them in secret.
Ephessians 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light
for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Ephessians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from
the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Walk in Wisdom
Ephessians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Ephessians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephessians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of
the Lord is.
Ephessians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled
with the Spirit;
Ephessians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord

the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
